Many people drink less than half the water they need!
Just 2% fluid loss can reduce physical performance.
Water makes up 50-80% of total body weight, depending on age.

Why Hydration Matters

Physical Performance

Hydration is essential for maintaining muscle strength, supporting joint function and enabling physical activity. This is vital for healthy growth in youth and the prevention of frailty, falls and functional decline in older adults.

Tissue Health & Metabolic Function

Water plays a critical role in maintaining tissue health, supporting kidney function and removing waste from the body. Inadequate hydration can affect skin integrity, oral health, digestion and temperature regulation – especially in people with complex needs.

Immune Support & Recovery

Hydration is vital for nutrient transport, immune cell function and lymphatic circulation. Dehydration may impair the immune response and delay recovery from illness or infection.

Cognitive Function

Even 1-2% dehydration can impair attention, memory and lead to fatigue. Adequate hydration supports neural communication and cognitive performance across the lifespan.
